Since early 2025, McDonald’s (MCD) has used its McValue platform and Extra Value Meals to create a more coherent, national value message after years of relying heavily on local deals and app-only offers. McDonald’s (MCD) management has repeatedly framed affordability as part of the company’s DNA to position McValue as the everyday value anchor and fight back against the perception that it was no longer a pricing leader, while still supporting premium items like Best Burger and McCafé to balance traffic and check growth.

Under the new structure, specific items like sausage biscuits and four-piece Chicken McNuggets are expected to anchor the under-$3 tier, while a $4 breakfast bundle with a McMuffin, hash browns, and coffee will target morning traffic. The offers are designed to echo the older $1, $2, and $3 dollar menus, and they are meant to compete with low-price platforms at rivals such as Taco Bell’s (YUM) value menu and new Burger King (QSR) promotions.

RBC Capital Markets analysts Logan Reich said a bullish view could be the launch improves McDonald’s (MCD) value perceptions, particularly among lower-income consumers. “We think this change could just be an optimization of MCD’s value offerings, as they have a year+ of learnings following the launch of McValue. Further, the unanimous franchisee support suggests franchisees are on board with the value strategy,” he highlighted.

McDonald’s (MCD) is a few days into the introduction of the Big Arch in U.S. markets for a limited time. The giant hamburger has already been introduced in Canada, Germany, Portugal, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The decision has already been made to make it a permanent addition to U.K. outlets.

The new Big Arch is McDonald’s (MCD) largest burger yet, built around two quarter-pound 100% beef patties and three slices of melted white cheddar cheese on a toasted sesame-and-poppy-seed bun. It’s topped with both crispy and slivered onions, lettuce, pickles, and a new Big Arch Sauce that McDonald’s (MCD) describes as tangy and creamy, balancing mustard, pickle, and sweet tomato flavors. The giant sandwich runs counter to the consumer trend toward healthier serving sizes and GLP-1s,

So far, reviewers generally agree the Big Arch is flavorful, heavy, and more satisfying in many ways than a Big Mac. The tangy, tomato-forward Big Arch Sauce has been widely praised. The main criticism has been that the Big Arch may be the messiest McDonald’s (MCD) burger that reviewers have ever eaten.

The mini-controversy around the Big Arch popped up earlier in the week when McDonald’s (MCD) CEO Chris Kempczinski and a taste-test video in which he awkwardly struggles to pick up and bite the oversized burger while delivering heavily promotional lines about how much he loves the product went viral. Rival Burger King (QSR) took some shots at the incident as it continued to promote its Whopper upgrade.

Restaurant industry analysts expect McDonald’s (MCD) to see a meaningful sales lift in March and April as The Big Arch attracts extra traffic.

Shares of McDonald’s (MCD) edged 0.6% lower in premarket trading. The restaurant stock is up 8.5% on a year-to-date basis.

McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) traded higher on Thursday after reporting a sharp upturn in comparable sales in Q4. On Wall Street, analysts were divided on whether the company has fully turned the corner or faces a tricky road ahead.

Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Harbour said the next big cycle for the company is already unfolding, revolving around faster unit growth and probably another remodel wave. The renewed focus on food quality, taste, and range is considered strategic since the chain’s most credible competitors to fend off are no longer traditional burger QSRs, but Dutch Bros (BROS), Raising Cane’s, In-N-Out, and other specialist concepts growing stores and taking QSR market share.

Oppenheimer analyst Brian Bittner highlighted that McDonald’s (MCD) underlying sales indicators are strengthening, and market share with low-end consumers is reversing to a tailwind. Looking ahead, Bittner and his team see multiple levers for intriguing sales upside throughout 2026. “We raise our assumptions for core fundamentals,” wrote Bittner. Oppenheimer kept its Outperform rating on MCD in place.

Bank of America analyst Sara Senator noted the firm was encouraged by the restaurant giant’s strong topline performance, but the need for continuous reinvestment as well as the more stable franchise model is considered capping EPS upside. The firm kept its Neutral rating on McDonald’s (MCD).

Mizuho Securities analyst Nick Setyan thinks it is too early for investors to celebrate a U.S. comparable sales inflection. “We are skeptical that Q4’s comp strength is sustainable beyond Q1 and continue to believe U.S. SSS growth visibility for the remainder of ’26 remains limited. We also believe risk to 2026 margin expectations remains elevated,” warned Setyan. Mizuho lowered its 2026 EPS estimate on MCD to $13.14 from $13.31 to reflect forward margin commentary.

On Seeking Alpha, analyst Luca Socci sees MCD as protection in a bear market but trading with a lofty PEG ratio.

Shares of McDonald’s (MCD) were up 2.2% in late morning trading.
