Adobe unveils new generative AI features for Acrobat

Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) revealed new generative artificial intelligence features for its flagship product Acrobat on Monday as software giants continue to integrate the emerging technology.

“Acrobat AI Assistant supercharges productivity with support for multiple documents and enables customers to ask questions, get insights and create content across PDF, Microsoft (MSFT) Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, text documents and more,” the company said.

Powered by Adobe Firefly, Acrobat users can create and edit images through text prompts from a stockpile of 3T PDFs in circulation.

“With generative AI we can advance the category again with image creation and insights across a new range of document types, empowering every customer with a deeper understanding and ability to transform information into compelling content – with the ease and speed of a simple prompt,” said Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president, Adobe Document Cloud.

Adobe said it does not build its generative AI models on customer data. Instead, it is trained on its licenses content and public domain images.

“AI is unlocking creativity for non-creators, potentially increasing the total available market by 20-35%, according to our experts,” said analyst Charlie Miner with Third Bridge. “Our experts have praised the superiority of Adobe’s early AI features, calling out that AI will be not just an iteration but a transformation of their toolset.”

Adobe is offering a free trial of Acrobat AI Assistant features from June 18 through June 28. Subscription plans for the AI assistant add-on start at $4.99 per month. It will initially be only available in English.

Adobe shares slipped 2% during early market action on Monday.
