GM issues a recall for more than 21K electric Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Tuesday that General Motors (NYSE:GM) issued a recall in the U.S. for 21,469 2023-20234 electric Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel drive vehicles over concerns of an unexpected activation of the anti-lock brake system. The NHTSA warned in the recall noticed that reduced braking performance or inoperative brakes may increase the risk of a crash. The automaker plans to remedy the issue through an over-the-air update. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on September 23.
In April, the NHTSA had opened a preliminary evaluation into more than 3,000 Cadillac LYRIQ electric vehicles over claims related to loss of brake assist.
The Cadillac LYRIQ is described as a mid-size luxury electric SUV featuring a striking design, spacious interior, and cutting-edge technology. It offers a range of up to 314 miles, advanced driver-assistance systems, and a powerful 500-hp dual-motor option.
Shares of General Motors (GM) trickled 0.44% lower in premarket trading to $42.81.
