OpenAI, the generative artificial intelligence startup backed by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), said it had a new version of its GPT-4o large language model, but provided little detail on it.
“[T]here’s a new GPT-4o model out in ChatGPT since last week,” the company’s official X account wrote. “[H]ope you all are enjoying it and check it out if you haven’t! [W]e think you’ll like it.”
Some users have found that the new model includes multi-step reasoning and more detailed explanations of its processes, according to VentureBeat.
Microsoft invested multiple billions of dollars into OpenAI in January 2023, just a few months after its generative AI chatbot ChatGPT took the world by storm. Since then, OpenAI has introduced several new models, including GPT-4o in May. It also unveiled a smaller, more cost-effective version, GPT-4o mini, last month.
The release of the GPT-4o model in May led to a spike in revenue for OpenAI, research firm Appfigures found.
Google’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) Gemini generative artificial intelligence chatbot recently said OpenAI’s GPT-4 is the most advanced large language model, according to investment firm Baird.
