S&P 500 buy and sell ideas for each of the sectors – Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer analysts published their top buy vs. sell idea pairs from each of the 11 S&P 500 (SP500) sectors.

Analysts wrote that the early August rate breakdown favors large caps over small, and growth over value.

“We believe later-cycle risk can also be mitigated by increasing exposure to the momentum factor because high-momentum has outpaced low-momentum by one of its widest margins after a Fed cut when the yield curve is inverted,” they said.

These are the sector pairs:

• In energy (XLE): Buy Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) and Sell EQT Corp. (EQT)
• In materials (XLB): Buy CRH Plc (CRH) and Sell Celanese Corp. (CE)
• In industrials (XLI): Buy Carrier Global Corp. (CARR) and Sell United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS)
• In discretionary (XLY): Buy Ferrari N.V. (RACE) and Sell LKQ Corp. (LKQ)
• In consumer staples (XLP): Buy Keurig Dr. Pepper Inc. (KDP) and Sell Monster Beverage Corp. (MNST)
• In health care (XLV): Buy Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (REGN) and Sell The Cooper Companies Inc. (COO)
