Tesla loses one of its only two female VPs
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has lost another to executive as the company’s C-suite continues to be reset. cc has stepped down, according to a LinkedIn post spotted by Bloomberg.
Venkataratnam, who was head of Tesla’s finance operations, is an 11-year veteran of the company. Notably, Venkataratnam was one of the two most-senior female executives at Tesla (TSLA), which means Laurie Shelby, vice president of environmental, health, safety and security, will be the lone woman on the top executive team.
Venkataratnam was highlighted as having played a strategic role in factory construction, the ramping up of vehicle manufacturing, and the growth of its energy business. “Leaving as a Vice President (one of only two women VPs in the company) with annual revenues soaring close to $100B, market cap to $700B (reaching $1T during the pandemic) and cars delivered in a year to more than 1.8 million, I am proud of how much we’ve achieved together,” wrote Venkataratnam on LinkedIn. In a response to a comment, Venkataratnam said working for Tesla (TSLA) is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Last April, Tesla (TSLA) Senior Vice President of Energy Drew Baglino left the company as part of a broad 10% reduction in the company’s headcount. Rohan Patel, Tesla’s head of public policy, left at the same time, and soon after Tesla’s head of investor relations, Martin Viecha, also departed. Last year, Tesla (TSLA) Chief Financial Officer Zach Kirkhorn stepped down after four years in that key position.
Shares of Tesla (TSLA) were down 3.76% at 1:40 p.m. The EV stock is down more than 13% on a year-to-date basis.
