Xiaomi urges India’s competition regulator to recall report on Walmart’s Flipkart – report

Xiaomi (OTCPK:XIACF) has reportedly asked India’s competition regulator to take back its report that stated that the firm and Walmart’s (NYSE:WMT) Flipkart have broken competition laws.

The company said the report contains commercial secrets, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The consumer electronics company has reportedly told the Competition Commission of India (CCI) that the report on Flipkart has sensitive business data on Xiaomi, which were supposed to be redacted, the report added.

Earlier in September, smartphone companies, including Samsung (OTCPK:SSNLF) and Xiaomi (OTCPK:XIACF) were implicated in an antitrust probe initiated by Indian regulators against e-commerce firms Amazon (AMZN) and Walmart’s (WMT) Flipkart.

The regulator had said that the smartphone makers colluded with Amazon (AMZN) and Walmart’s (WMT) Flipkart to launch their products exclusively on e-commerce firms’ websites, in violation of India’s antitrust laws.

Xiaomi wants the regulators to ask the parties to give back the report and also destroy any copies, which will allow the commission to redact more sensitive information and then reshare the document, the Reuters report added.

The request comes over a month after, the agency, had ordered an uncommon recall of reports of a probe which found that Apple (AAPL) violated competition laws, after the iPhone maker complained that its commercial secrets were divulged to other parties, including Tinder-owner Match (MTCH).

If the CCI does recall the report, the probe could take longer to come to a conclusion.
