Apple may unveil new Vision Pro with M5 chip, Apple Intelligence in 2025: analyst

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) appears poised to unveil a new version of the Vision Pro mixed reality headset next year, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said.

A new Vision Pro is set to go into mass production in the second-half of 2025 and will be powered by Apple’s M5 chip, Kuo wrote in a blog post. This will create a better Apple Intelligence user experience, Kuo added.

“In particular, if the M5 Vision Pro can integrate something like OpenAI’s Sora, it may elevate the user experience of the head-mounted display device to unimaginable levels,” Kuo wrote in reference to OpenAI’s text-to-video generator.

“The impact of text-to-video AI models on the head-mounted display device experience will likely be more impressive than on existing mainstream consumer electronics.”

Apple introduced the Vision Pro at last year’s developer conference.

The current Vision Pro is powered by Apple’s M2 chip, which was introduced in June 2022 at its annual developer’s conference. It also has the R1 chip coprocessor, which is used for real-time input processing.

Aside from the chip and Apple Intelligence, Kuo said other hardware specs and designs on the Vision Pro “won’t change much, which should help lower costs and price points.” The current model starts at $3,499.

Apple released visionOS 2, the updated version of the Vision Pro operating system, earlier this month.
