Boeing delivers fewer planes in September amid ongoing strikes
Boeing (NYSE:BA) said it delivered 116 commercial airplanes in the third quarter and 33 in September, seven fewer than August, as the company continues to grapple with the ongoing worker strikes that has hurt its output.
Around 33,000 workers went on strike on September 13, closing down manufacturing across the west coast of the U.S.
The aerospace firm remains in negotiations with the workers union to end the strike, who are seeking a 40% wage hike rise over four years and the reinstatement of a defined-benefit pension plan.
Q3 shipments grew from the 105 jets Boeing (BA) handed over a year earlier. The firm delivered 92 of its 737 models, and 14 of its 787 models in the quarter, among others.
Year to date, the company delivered 291 commercial airplanes programs.
