Boeing factory workers will stage rally in Seattle as strike enters fifth week

Boeing (NYSE:BA) factory workers on Tuesday will hold a rally in Seattle to insist on better pay, seeking to pressure Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg to end a strike that has deepened the crisis at the troubled aviation giant.

About 33,000 unionized workers in the Pacific Northwest have been on strike since September 13, suspending production of Boeing’s (BA) best-selling 737 Max narrowbody plane and the 767 and 777 widebody jets.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and Boeing (BA) management have each filed charges accusing the other of unfair labor practices during negotiations.

After talks broke down, Boeing (BA) last week withdrew its latest offer that included a 30% wage increase over four years.

U.S. Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su on Monday met with Boeing (BA) and the IAM in an attempt to bring them back to the bargaining table.
