Boeing to issue layoff notices to thousands in November as strike drags on – report
Boeing (NYSE:BA) will send 60-day notices in mid-November to thousands of staff being made redundant as part of a plan to cut 17,000 jobs at the debt-laden plane-maker, Reuters reported.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications will be given to thousands of employees in Boeing’s (BA) commercial aviation division, who will then leave the company in mid-January, the report added.
U.S. Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su traveled to Seattle to meet with Boeing (BA) and the union representing about 33,000 striking workers.
The strike has been occurring since Sept. 13 in the plants that make the Boeing’s commercial jets, such as the 767, 777 and the 747 MAX.
