Qualcomm expected to wait until after US election to make Intel decision – Bloomberg
Qualcomm (QCOM) is likely to wait until after the US presidential election next month before it decides if it will try to make an offer to acquire Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC).
Qualcomm (QCOM) wants to see who will be in the White House to assess how the new administration is going to look at antitrust matters, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday, which cited people familiar with the matter. Qualcomm may even decide to wait until after the presidential inauguration in January before making a decision on Intel (INTC).
The latest update comes after media reports last month that Qualcomm (QCOM) approached Intel (INTC) about a takeover offer.
Last month, Qualcomm (QCOM) also made inquiries with Chinese antitrust regulators about a potential Intel (INTC) deal, according to the Bloomberg report on Tuesday. The San Diego-based company hasn’t received any feedback from Chinese authorities.
