China solar names surge as U.S. considers request to cut tariffs
Chinese solar shares listed in the U.S. rallied in pre-market trading Wednesday, led by Daqo New Energy (NYSE:DQ) +13.1% and JinkoSolar (JKS) +5.8%, following news that the U.S. Department of Commerce Department is considering reducing tariffs on the sector, according to Bloomberg.
The agency is reviewing the revocation of part of anti-dumping and countervailing duties imposed on crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells produced in China, according to the U.S. Federal Register, with the “changed circumstances review” based on a request made by Lutron Electronics, a U.S. company.
The move followed an earlier rally in the Chinese sector, after an industry association appealed for more rational solar panel prices despite fierce competition.
