Engie to supply Meta with 260 MW of solar power from planned Texas plant
Engie (OTCPK:ENGIY) said Thursday it signed a deal with Meta (META) to purchase 100% of the output from the French utility’s 260 MW Sypert Branch solar power plant in Texas to support Meta’s growing power needs in line with its net zero goals.
Engie (OTCPK:ENGIY) will construct and operate the Sypert project located 70 miles northeast of Austin, Texas, and 10 miles from Meta’s (META) data center in Temple, Texas; the facility is expected to begin operation late next year.
Once operational, Sypert will add to Engie’s (OTCPK:ENGIY) existing portfolio of ~8 GW of renewable projects including solar, wind and battery storage in operation or construction across North America.
Last week, Engie (OTCPK:ENGIY) announced a power purchase agreement with Google for the supply of solar power from its Chillingham plant in Texas, its largest U.S. solar project to date.
