Airbnb hits a milestone of 2 billion guests just ahead of earnings
Airbnb (NASDAQ:ABNB) disclosed that the online travel company just reached 2 billion guests. CEO Brian Chesky noted on social media site X that it took Airbnb (ABNB) 14 years to get to the milestone of one billion guests, and then just three years to another billion guests.
Looking ahead, Airbnb (ABNB) heads into the earnings confessional on November 7. Analysts expect Airbnb (ABNB) to report revenue of $3.72 billion and EPS of $2.13. Notably, the last 28 EPS revisions from analysts on the Q3 results have been on the downward side.
Options trading implies a share price swing of 9% after Airbnb (ABNB) reports. The online travel stock fell 13% after its last earnings report.
As part of its earnings preview, Evercore ISI said its industry checks, 3P datapoints, and Booking Holdings’ (BKNG) recent Q3 EPS results all suggest that travel demand is reasonably robust. However, the firm also noted that Airbnb (ABNB) and its OTA peers called out pockets of mild moderation in July/August and other key industry data such as TSA throughput and hotel occupancy rates have also shown signs of slight moderation, which leads the firm to expect an in-line Q3 report.
