Stock futures edged down early Friday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell indicated that current economic conditions don’t support a swift reduction in interest rates.
Here are some of Friday’s biggest stock movers:
Biggest stock gainers
- Hyliion Holdings (HYLN) gained about 6% after surpassing Q3 profit expectations. The company announced plans to begin revenue recognition for military development projects in Q4 2024 and reaffirmed its guidance of low double-digit millions in revenue for 2025. Hyliion remains on track to deliver initial customer units by year-end and aims for approximately break-even gross margins on a cash basis by late 2025 or early 2026.
- Palantir Technologies (PLTR) climbed over 3% after announcing its plan to transfer its stock exchange listing from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq. The company expects to begin trading on Nasdaq starting November 26, retaining its ticker symbol “PLTR.”
- Domino’s Pizza (DPZ) shares soared 8% after Berkshire Hathaway revealed a new $549M stake in the pizza chain. According to a Thursday portfolio update, the investment conglomerate, led by renowned investor Warren Buffett, acquired nearly 1.3M shares of Domino’s by the end of September, representing a 3.7% ownership in the pizza-delivery company.
Biggest stock losers
- Applied Materials (AMAT) shares dropped 6% even though the company topped expectations in Q4. Looking to the first-quarter, Applied Materials said it expects to earn between $2.11 and $2.47 per share, with the midpoint of $2.29 slightly above the $2.28 per share estimate. Revenue is forecast to be between $6.75B and $7.55B, with the midpoint of $7.15 slightly below the $7.25B estimate.
- AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) shares tumbled 15% following disappointing Q3 results. The company reported a net loss of $171.95M ($1.10 per share), a sharp increase from the $20.91M loss ($0.23 per share) recorded in the same quarter last year as adjusted operating expenses rose by $10.7M to $45.3M during the quarter.
