Palantir, Red Cat partner to integrate autonomous visual navigation in drones
Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) has secured a deal with Red Cat Holdings (NASDAQ:RCAT) to integrate its visual navigation and artificial intelligence tech into the drone technology company’s Black Widow drones.
Following Black Widow’s selection for the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance Program, this integration of Palantir’s Visual Navigation software and use of its Warp Speed manufacturing OS will transform autonomous sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft System) operations for modern warfare.
Palantir’s VNav software addresses the persistent problem of long-range inertial drift by comparing the drone’s position against onboard up-to-date satellite imagery.
“Equipped with Palantir’s visual navigation and artificial intelligence, the Black Widow will be among the most capable drones ever fielded by the Department of Defense, compact enough to fit in a rucksack,” said Jeff Thompson, Red Cat CEO.
RCAT shares rose 14% premarket on Monday, while Palantir (PLTR) was up 0.32% on Nasdaq-100 inclusion.
