Boeing gets back to 767, 777 wide-body production – report
Boeing (NYSE:BA) resumed production of its 767 and 777 wide-body aircraft models following a seven-week strike that involved 33,000 factory workers, Reuters reported.
The planemaker had confirmed restarting production of the 737 MAX jetliner last week.
Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, confirmed the start of production across its 737, 767, and 777/777X airplanes.
“We have taken time to ensure all manufacturing teammates are current on training and certifications, while positioning inventory at the optimal levels for smooth production,” she added.
The strike, which ended on November 5, had led to significant disruptions in Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) operations, resulting in a sharp decline in deliveries. The planemaker reported delivering only 13 commercial jets in November, a stark contrast to the 56 delivered during the same month the previous year.
The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to increase oversight as Boeing resumes its operations, reflecting heightened regulatory scrutiny following past safety concerns.
