
XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) officially launched the MONA M03 Max model in China on Wednesday. The new AI-powered battery electric vehicle model is positioned as an affordable, tech-forward hatchback sedan, with a starting price of RMB139,800 ($19,400).
The pricing is significant because it makes advanced intelligent driving features accessible in the sub-$20,000 segment. The model name MONA stands for Made of New AI, reflecting XPeng’s (NYSE:XPEV) mission to deliver next-gen AI technology to mainstream customers,
The MONA M03 Max model is equipped with XPeng’s (XPEV) fully self-developed AI Turing Smart Driving System. Notably, the M03 Max was highlighted as delivering high-level AI assisted driving with no added cost or subscriptions.

“The AI Turing Smart Driving System integrates perception, decision-making, and control into one unified architecture, enhanced by 27 high-precision sensors and a class-leading ultra-HD Surround Reality (SR) Display with panorama updates of road conditions. It can accurately detect over 50 road elements, from traffic signs to complex obstacles… the MONA M03 Max also features class-leading smart parking functions, including tight-space parking and point-to-point assisted driving, with no route or scenario limitations.”
The Max variant offers two range options (600 km and 502 km), while the Plus variant provides (620 km and 515 km versions).
Some of the vehicles that may see pricing pressure due to the MONA M03 Max introduction, include the Tesla (TSLA) Model 3, BYD Seal and Dolphin (OTCPK:BYDDF) (OTCPK:BYDDY), Nio Onvo L60 (NIO), and Li Auto L6 (LI).
