- AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) said on Wednesday that it had acquired silicon photonics company Enosemi to boost its co-packaging and artificial intelligence prowess.
- “Enosemi has collaborated with us as an external development partner on photonics, and this acquisition extends that successful relationship,” AMD wrote on a blog post. “Now as part of AMD, the team will help us immediately scale our ability to support and develop a variety of photonics and co-packaged optics solutions across next-gen AI systems.”
- Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but AMD said the experience of the Enosemi team makes them “an ideal fit for AMD as we push deeper into high-performance interconnect innovation.”
- AMD shares fell 0.6% in midday trading on Wednesday.
