Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) launch of its Apple Intelligence features in China is being held up by the trade war between China and the U.S., the Financial Times reported.
The respective applications of Apple and Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) — which is working with Apple on the Apple Intelligence launch — are being held up by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the news outlet added, citing two people familiar with the matter.
Last month, it was reported that the White House has scrutinized the deal between Apple and Alibaba after concerns were raised.
Apple and Alibaba did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Alibaba Chairman Joseph Tsai said in February that iPhones would use Alibaba’s AI technology to aid with Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence was first announced in June 2024.
Apple is set to host its annual developers conference next week, with a keynote address slated for June 9 at 1 p.m. EST.
