- Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella said the nature of its relationship with ChatGPT maker OpenAI is changing, but is still strong.
- “Any company that has gone from being a research lab to one of the most successful product companies of this age — obviously things have to change for them and for us and in the context of the partnership,” Nadella told Bloomberg.
- “I hope that for decades to come, Microsoft and OpenAI will be partnered in variety of different ways,” Nadella added. “Will they have other partners? Absolutely. Will we have other partners? Absolutely.”
- Microsoft is one of the largest investors in OpenAI, having made a “multibillion” dollar investment in the company in January 2023. It has integrated OpenAI technology into a number of its products, while OpenAI relies on Microsoft Azure for a portion of its cloud computing needs. This has allowed Microsoft to make money every time ChatGPT is used, Nadella explained.
