Elon Musk indicated he would take steps to ease tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump, following a public feud that erupted between them on Thursday.

Musk indicated he’d move to cool tensions with Trump, with Politico reporting that White House aides have scheduled a call with the world’s richest man on Friday.

“Oh it’s okay,” Trump told Politico in a brief telephone call when asked about the very public breakup with his onetime megabacker. “It’s going very well, never done better.”

Earlier, their clash escalated when the president threatened to terminate Musk’s government contracts, leading to a 14% drop in Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares.

The feud grew heated enough to raise concerns among allies, prompting figures like hedge fund manager Bill Ackman to step in and help defuse the situation. Musk, for his part, appeared open to reconciliation.

“I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country,” Ackman wrote on X.

Musk responded, “You’re not wrong.”

Musk’s other companies include SpaceX (SPACE), xAI, Neuralink, The Boring Company, Neuralink, and social media site X.
