Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is suing LATAM Airlines (NYSE:LTM) in the U.S. in response to a legal action from the airline after the company refused to take down YouTube videos that accused the airline’s employee of sexual abuse against a child, according to a court filing from Thursday.
The lawsuit said LATAM, through its Brazilian subsidiary, sued Google in 2018 and demanded the tech giant take down two videos uploaded by U.S. citizen Raymond Moreira.
The company is requesting the court in San Jose, California, to declare that LATAM cannot force Google to remove the videos in the U.S.
A Brazilian appeals court will decide by next week whether it can order Google to take down the videos globally.
Moreira uploaded the videos in 2018 that allegedly show him interviewing his six-year-old son, who described abuse he experienced from a LATAM employee while traveling as an unaccompanied minor from Brazil to Florida.
