- Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is reorganizing its health care business into six “pillars” in an effort to simplify its structure and improve innovation.
- “One of the problems we’re trying to solve is the fragmented experience for patients and customers that’s common in healthcare,” SVP, Amazon Health Services, Neil Lindsay told CNBC.
- Amazon’s health care services include PillPack, Amazon Pharmacy, and One Medical, a nationwide, membership-based, brick-and-mortar primary care practice.
- The six pillars are: One Medical Clinical Care Delivery; One Medical Clinical Operations and Performance; AHS Strategic Growth and Network Development; AHS Store, Tech and Marketing; AHS Compliance; and AHS Pharmacy Services.
- CNBC reported that the reorg is happening after Aaron Martin, vice president of health care at Amazon, announced in May that he plans to leave. Also, Amazon Chief Medical Officer Sunita Mishra stepped down in May.
