AWS highlights security, data sovereignty and new features at re:Inforce 2025 event

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services showcased several product features at its security-focused conference, AWS re:Inforce on Tuesday.

AWS Chief Information Security Officer Amy Herzog showed how AWS’ security portfolio comes together to deliver simplified and secure solutions for enterprises of all sizes.

“We can’t properly secure AI or any other technology really without a secure foundation,” said Herzog during the keynote address.

Herzog noted that AWS’ Identity and Access Management handles 1.2B API calls per second worldwide.

Herzog announced the general availability of Internal Access Findings, a new IAM access analyzer capability. Powered by automated reasoning, customers can use internal access finding to know who in the company has access to important AWS resources, Herzog added.

Regarding the location of data, Herzog said that “sovereignty has been a priority for AWS since the very beginning, when we were the only leading cloud provider to allow customers to control the location and movement of their data.”

Herzog noted the company was “committed to continue offering all AWS customers the most advanced set of sovereignty control and features available in the cloud.”

The company also introduced AWS Network Firewall enhanced with active threat defense.

Through customer examples and architectural patterns, the company showed how AWS enables one to build inherently resilient applications that can withstand modern threats and scale with their business.

The keynote address also saw Noopur Davis, corporate executive vice president and chief information security and product privacy officer for Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Comcast Cable, take the stage and talked about security solutions and the company’s six-year partnership with AWS.

In addition, Herzog said that the company is adding further enhancements to GuardDuty extended threat detection.

Herzog also announced the preview of AWS’ enhanced security hub.
