The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) has now gone 60 consecutive trading sessions without closing below its 20-day moving average, marking the second-longest streak in its history dating back to 1985. The only longer run occurred in early 1999 during the height of the dot-com boom.
BTIG’s Jonathan Krinsky noted the milestone, saying: “Party Like it’s 1999. As we discussed last week, the Nasdaq 100 has now gone 60 trading days without closing below its 20 DMA, the second-longest streak in its history (back to 1985). The longest was ended in early 1999.”
The sustained strength in the tech-heavy index has also fueled gains in the Invesco QQQ ETF (NASDAQ:QQQ), which tracks the performance of the Nasdaq 100. The ETF, which ranks as the fifth-largest in the world by assets, has surged 17% since the start of June and is now up 10% year-to-date. This resilience highlights investor confidence in large-cap growth and technology names, even as broader market conditions remain mixed.
