NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE) is scheduled to announce Q2 earnings results on July 23rd, before the market opens.
Analysts have forecast a solid Q2 print for the company. The consensus EPS Estimate is $1.01, a 5.2% growth from the year-ago period. Revenue is expected to witness a 23.6% year-on-year jump to $7.5 billion.
Its revenue growth is likely to be led by the Florida Power & Light segment which is estimated to post an operating revenue of $4.51 billion, according to Bloomberg. The NextEra Energy Resources segment is likely to clock in an operating revenue of $2.48 billion and the same for the corporate and other segment is expected to come in at $43 million, the report added.
The company’s earnings call is expected to be largely quiet, according to a note by BMO Capital Markets’ analyst James Thalacker. However, he noted that investors’ focus is likely to be on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) and President Trump’s executive order and the management’s interpretation of the safe harbor of project tax credits.
Investors are also likely to look for the management’s comments in the ongoing FPL rate case, updated outlooks for tariff impacts and backlog origination.
“Management will likely continue to highlight and reiterate the minimal impact from tariffs due to the company’s diverse and increasing US supply chain for solar, wind, and battery storage. Given its scale and buying power, similar to the OBBBA, impacts to NEE are expected to be minimal compared to other players in the space, which NEE will use to its advantage,” the analyst noted.
BMO Capital Markets has an Outperform rating for the stock with a price target of $81. The stock has been trading in the green ahead of its earnings. On a YTD basis, NextEra Energy has gone up by 6.54% slightly behind the S&P500 index which rose by 7.21%.
Over the last 2 years, NEE has beaten EPS estimates 100% of the time and has beaten revenue estimates 25% of the time. Over the last 3 months, EPS estimates have seen 6 upward revisions and 4 downward moves while revenue estimates have seen 1 upward revision and 2 downward adjustments.
