Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has simplified its product protection plan for customers who own multiple devices.
AppleCare One allows customers to bundle coverage of three products for $19.99 per month. They can also add more devices to the bundle for $5.99 per device per month. It expands the theft and loss protection to the iPad and Apple Watch.
“Built on the trusted foundation of AppleCare+, AppleCare One extends that same reliability and makes it easier than ever to protect the products you love and depend on, like iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, combining simplicity and exceptional value,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Apple said the coverage prices remain the same despite what Apple device it is. AppleCare One also allows customers to add Apple products they already own to the plan, as long as they are less than four years old and in good condition. Devices might be required to undergo a diagnostic check to determine if they are in “good condition.”
AppleCare One also makes it easier for customers to remove devices from the plan. This will likely make it easier for Apple to comply with California’s auto-renew law.
“When a customer trades in a covered product directly to Apple, it is automatically removed from their AppleCare One plan and replaced with the new device,” Apple said. “In addition, as a monthly plan, AppleCare One makes it easy for customers to maintain coverage for as long as they’d like across as many products as they want, including the ability to move products in and out of their plan at any time.”
