Walmart’s (NYSE:WMT) Mexico and Central American business on Friday said its top boss Ignacio Caride had submitted his resignation and had been replaced by Walmart Chile CEO Cristian Barrientos Pozo on an interim basis.
Walmart de México y Centroamérica (OTCQX:WMMVY), or Walmex, is Mexico’s largest retailer and operates in five other countries in Central America, with over 4K stores as of 2024.
“Since April 2024, Ignacio and his team have led Walmart de México y Centroamérica operations across six countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua,” the company said in a statement.
Walmex in July reported second quarter same-store sales growth of 4.4% in Mexico and 4% in Central America, though overall net income dropped 10.3% Y/Y to 11.23B pesos ($595.5M).
