Anthropic offering AI service Claude to US government for $1

Anthropic said it is offering AI service Claude to all three branches of the U.S. government for $1.

The AI startup — which is backed by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google — said it is offering Claude for Enterprise and Claude for government to all three branches, including federal civilian executive branch agencies, as well as legislative and judiciary branches of government.

Last week, U.S. General Services Administration, or GAS, had added AI services Claude, Google’s Gemini, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT to its Multiple Award Schedule, or MSA. MSA are long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms providing federal, state, and local government buyers access to commercial products and services at volume discount pricing.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)-backed OpenAI has already said that it is providing access to ChatGPT Enterprise to U.S. federal agencies at a nominal cost of $1 per agency for the next year.

Anthropic said on Tuesday that its partnership with GSA has been instrumental in making Claude accessible to federal agencies.

The company is also providing technical support to help agencies rapidly implement AI into their productivity and mission workflows.

This package will be available for one year, according to the company.

Anthropic said that it is offering both Claude for Government, which supports FedRAMP High workloads that enable federal workers to use Claude for sensitive unclassified work, and Claude for Enterprise.

The company noted that in July, the Department of Defense selected Claude through an agreement with a $200M ceiling with the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office to advance U.S. national security capabilities.

Through partnerships with Amazon’s Amazon Web Services, or AWS, Google Cloud, and Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR) agencies can access Claude via their existing secure infrastructure while maintaining complete control over their data, the company noted.
