UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) has created a Public Responsibility Committee to “monitor and oversee financial, regulatory, and reputational risks that may affect the company’s operations and mission.”
Its main responsibilities are “underwriting and forecasting, regulatory relationships, reputational matters, and mergers and acquisitions,” per an SEC filing.
Michele Hooper will serve as chair. As a result, though she will remain a director, she will be replaced by F. William McNabb as lead independent director.
UnitedHealth noted that the panel’s creation is “part of the company’s continuing commitment to a mission-driven culture of responsibility, integrity and performance. It will provide an additional layer of governance, including enhanced oversight of pricing, operational, regulatory and reputational risks.”
