Elon Musk set to take on Microsoft with new company

  • Elon Musk asked people on Friday to join his artificial intelligence company xAI in an effort to take on software giant Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT).
  • “Join @xAI and help build a purely AI software company called Macrohard,” Musk wrote in a post on X. “It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real! In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI.”
  • A limited liability company known as Macrohard was filed with the U.S. Patent Office recently. The filing was attributed to xAI and was filed with the U.S. agency on August 1, according to PCMag.
  • Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
