Susan Monarez, who won Senate confirmation on July 30 as President Trump’s choice to run the CDC, is now being removed from that position.
Several administration officials told The Washington Post that Monarez, who held various government research position before arriving at the CDC, was being ousted.
The White House and HHS, which oversees the national public health agency did not return a request for comment to the newspaper.
The president will now have to come up with a third choice to lead the CDC. Monarez, who had been serving as interim director from Jan. 23-March 24, was tapped after Trump pulled the nomination of former congressman Dave Weldon after it became clear he would face a contentious Senate confirmation hearing due to his anti-vaccine views.
