Meta pushes to release new Llama model before 2026: report

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) plans to release its next artificial intelligence model, which is known internally as Llama 4.X or Llama 4.5, before the end of the year, according to Business Insider.

It is expected to be one of the first projects from Meta Superintelligence Labs, according to the report, which cited people familiar with the issue.

Meta Superintelligence Labs is led by Alexandr Wang, the former CEO of Scale AI, whom Meta hired after making a $14.3B investment for a 49% stake in the company. Meta has reportedly restructured Meta Superintelligence Labs into four groups, with teams focused on training, research, product and infrastructure.

Meta first announced the Llama 4 models in April, which included Maverick, Scout and Behemoth. Whille Scout and Maverick were released on April 5, Behemoth, which was slated for a June release, remains stuck in development.
