Chinese EV maker Xpeng (NYSE:XPEV) is recalling 47,490 P7+ sedans, affecting over 70% of owners, due to a steering defect that presents a safety risk.
Some of the cars, produced between Aug. 20 last year and April 27 may see the steering fault warning indicator light come on and then experience a steering failure due to a flaw in the sensor wiring harness, a statement released by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation on Friday said.
Zhaoqing Xiaopeng New Energy Investment Co. will replace the improved steering gear assembly for vehicles within the recall scope free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
