Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) reportedly signed on Wednesday a binding five-year customer agreement with Nscale Global and Aker to rent hyperscale AI infrastructure in Norway.
The software maker will pay $6.2 billion to access high-performance AI compute capacity in Norway, Nscale Global highlighted in its press release.
The British data center company Nscale Global and Norwegian investment company Aker are expected to deliver hyperscale AI infrastructure in staged deployments starting in 2026 at Narvik, Northern Norway.
The tech giant on Tuesday said it will invest $30B in the U.K. over the next four years to boost its artificial intelligence prowess.
“This marks the largest financial commitment we’ve ever made in the UK,” Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith wrote in a blog post. “It includes $15 billion in capital expenditures to build out the UK’s cloud and AI infrastructure. This investment will enable us to build the country’s largest supercomputer — with more than 23,000 advanced GPUs — in partnership with Nscale.”
Last week, the software giant inked an $17.4 billion agreement with Nebius Group (NBIS) for artificial intelligence infrastructure over the next five years.
