Social media and tech giant Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) has introduced two new features to its Facebook Dating service, which the company claims will prevent users from getting the “swipe fatigue.”
In its blog post on Monday, Meta said it has created a dating assistant chatbot within the service that will give a user personalized help in their dating journey. The AI chatbot will be rolled out gradually in the U.S. and Canada.
The Menlo Park, California-based company has also introduced the “Meet Cute” feature that will automatically match a user with “a surprise match” using a personalized matching algorithm.
Meta said Meet Cute matches will be made weekly, and it is exploring adding the option of other frequencies. The user will also have an option to opt out of the feature at any time.
“We want to help you meet more people you’re interested in without having to resort to endless swiping or paying to unlock product features,” the company said. “Now, you’ll be able to find your best potential matches with a dating assistant, and get to the first date faster with Meet Cute.”
Shares of rival dating service companies Match Group (NASDAQ:MTCH) and Bumble (NASDAQ:BMBL) were down nearly 5% and 3.3% in reaction to the news.
