Media and entertainment giant Disney (NYSE:DIS) on Tuesday hiked prices for various streaming subscription plans in the U.S.
The hikes come amid the Jimmy Kimmel controversy, which triggered a wave of subscription cancellations by users who believe the company participated in curbing free speech.
The company is raising prices for the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle by $2 to $13 a month. It has kept the prices unchanged for the ad-free version of this bundle at $20/month.
The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle with ads is going up by $3 to $20 a month; the same bundle without ads is also going up by $3 to $30 a month.
Ad-free Disney+ along with the ad-supported Hulu and ESPN Select bundle is going up by $3 to $25 per month.
The ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select, and Live TV bundle is going up by $7 to $90 a month.
The ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle is going up by $3 to $20; the same bundle without ads is going up by $3 to $33 per month.
The price for a standalone Disney+ plan with ads was hiked by $2 to $12 a month. The standalone Hulu plan with ads is also going up by $2 to $12 a month.
The ad-free Disney+ plan is going up by $3 to $19 a month; the price for just Hulu without ads is unchanged at $19 a month.
The price hikes will be effective from October 21.
