Seeking Alpha’s roundup of statements, announcements and remarks that could impact the technology sector.

  • Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is launching Waymo for Business, a new robotaxi service aimed at the enterprise market, including corporations, universities, and event organizers.

The new service allows businesses and other organizations to offer fully autonomous robotaxi rides to employees. It can also be used to ferry people around at events.

“We are actively exploring how our service can best support organizations of all sizes. While we’re still in the early stages, we’re committed to evolving our business offerings to better meet the needs of a wide range of business over time,” Waymo said in a blog post.

Waymo currently operates in San Francisco, Phoenix and Atlanta.

Other companies involved in developing robotaxi services include Tesla (TSLA), Uber (UBER), Lyft (LYFT), Amazon’s Zoox (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Baidu (BIDU).

  • Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) appears to be preparing for a wider launch of its Zoox robotaxi service.

The company recently filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for certain vehicle safety standard exemptions for its autonomous vehicles, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg added that the exemption would allow Zoox to operate up to 2,500 autonomous vehicles in the U.S.

  • U.K. police said they’ve arrested a man they believe is connected to the recent ransomware attack on RTX (NYSE:RTX) airport check-in systems, which resulted in significant disruptions at several major airports in Europe.

“Although this arrest is a positive step, the investigation into this incident is in its early stages and remains ongoing,” said National Crime Agency Deputy Director Paul Foster, according to Reuters.

The airport check-in systems impacted in the attack were made by RTX’s Collins Aerospace unit.
