Google says AI Plus subscription to expand to more countries

  • Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) said late on Tuesday that its AI Plus subscription plan will be expanding to 40 countries, as it looks to keep boosting adoption of its viral image generation and editing model, informally known as Nano Banana.
  • The plan includes access to higher limits of the aforementioned model, as well as added access to its video generation model, Veo 3 Fast, directly inside the Gemini app. Other benefits of the subscription include access to its Whisk and Flow Gemini AI image and filmmaking tools; Gemini access built into Gmail, Docs, Sheets and more; Higher limits in NotebookLM; and 200 GB of storage across Photos, Drive and Gmail.
  • The subscription can be shared with five other family members, Google added.
  • Added countries include Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Ukraine, Vietnam and more. Prices vary by country, but the plan costs $19.99 per month in the U.S.
  • Nano Banana has helped boost usage of Google’s Gemini chatbot app, which surpassed OpenAI’s ChatGPT as the most downloaded free app on the App Store earlier this month.
  • Google shares fell 0.8% in late morning trading.
