OpenAI’s CEO of Applications Fidji Simo is looking for someone to oversee monetization efforts, including bringing advertising to ChatGPT, Sources.news by Alex Heath reported.
Simo has been meeting with potential candidates, including some of her former colleagues from Facebook to lead a new team which will be responsible for bringing ads to ChatGPT. The role will oversee all monetization endeavors at OpenAI, including subscriptions, the report added.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Discussions are ongoing, but the hiree is expected to report directly to Simo, who officially began at Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)-backed OpenAI last month after leaving her former role as CEO of Instacart, according to the report.
Simo oversees most of OpenAI’s operations except for its research, infrastructure, consumer hardware, and safety teams, which report directly to CEO Sam Altman, the report added.
