Sky News has signed a multi-year agreement with MSNBC, which will pay for the use of its cross-platform coverage, according to the UK news outlet.
As part of a commercial agreement, live broadcasts, TV packages, and online journalism from Sky News will be used by MSNBC. The agreement includes all of Sky News’ British and foreign TV coverage.
Under the terms, MSNBC will have no role in the commissioning of Sky coverage, and no MSNBC programming will be taken by Sky News.
“In this moment of consequential and historic news events happening around the world that are rapidly reshaping our collective future, we are honoured to bring Sky News’ premium, on-the-ground reporting and roster of top journalists to the MSNBC community,” MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler said.
Sky News is owned by Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA); MSNBC, which also is currently under Comcast, will be spun off into a new standalone networks-focused entity, Versant.
The agreement will begin on October 1; financial details were not disclosed.
