As part of its Developer Day conference on Monday, OpenAI (MSFT) announced a partnership with Mattel (NASDAQ:MAT) in which the toymaker will test the artificial intelligence video model Sora 2.
Sora 2 is OpenAI’s generative AI model for creating videos that feature enhanced realism, better control through detailed prompts, and a “Cameo” option to place users’ likeness or avatar in a generated video.
“Mattel has been a great partner working with us to test Sora 2 in the [application programming interface] and see what they can do to bring product ideas to life more quickly. So, one of their designers can now start with a sketch and then turn these early concepts into something that you can see and share and react to,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said at the conference.
Mattel (NASDAQ:MAT) shares were lifted throughout the day, reaching an 11-week high before fading most of the day’s gains into the close.
