Global PC shipments rise 9.4% in Q3 2025, Apple secures fourth spot: IDC

Global PC shipments grew 9.4% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2025, reaching 75.9M units, according to preliminary data from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker.

The market continues to benefit from the Windows 11 upgrade cycle and the replacement of aging devices.

Among top vendors:

  1. Lenovo (OTCPK:LNVGY) led the market with 19.4M units shipped (up 17.3%), capturing 25.5% market share.
  2. HP (HPQ) followed with 15M units and 10.7% growth, holding 19.8% of the market.
  3. Dell Technologies (DELL) saw modest growth at 2.6%, shipping 10.1M units.
  4. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) posted 13.7% growth, reaching 6.8M units, benefiting from sustained consumer and education demand.
  5. ASUS (OTCPK:ASUUY) grew 11.4%, shipping 5.9M units.

Despite overall strength, regional performance varied. North America remained constrained by U.S. import tariffs and macroeconomic uncertainty, while Asia/Pacific (including Japan and China) saw double-digit growth, fueled particularly by Japan’s hardware refresh in response to Windows 10’s end-of-support and government-led education initiatives under the GIGA project.

Despite challenges, PC vendors are seeing opportunities in refresh cycles from devices bought during or before the COVID-19 pandemic.
