Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has announced a new $9B investment in South Carolina through 2027 to expand AI infrastructure in the state.
“This funding will expand our Berkeley County data center campus and support the continued construction of two new sites in Dorchester County,” the tech giant said.
Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) will also provide a grant for a training program to prepare more than 160 apprentices for careers in South Carolina’s tech and energy sector.
The company has invested more than $4.5B in the state since it built its Berkeley County data center in 2007. Last year, it helped provide $6.4B of economic activity for South Carolina businesses, nonprofits, publishers, creators, and developers.
The latest investment comes as Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) is spending billions on infrastructure across the U.S., as well as in the U.K., Belgium and other countries.
