Ford (NYSE:F) is recalling over 1.4M vehicles over a rearview camera that fails to display an image properly, reducing the driver’s view behind the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall covers 1,448,655 units of 2015-2019 Flex, 2015 Explorer, Lincoln MKT, Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 C-Max, Escape, Taurus, 2016 Fusion, 2018-2019 Taurus, 2019 Lincoln MKT, Fiesta, and 2020 Mustang vehicles.
The rearview camera may display a distorted, intermittent, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in the recall report.
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the rearview camera inspected and replaced if necessary. There will be no charge for this service.
The remedy rearview camera will be produced with an updated process with higher quality control. As of October 1, 2025, Ford is aware of five accidents and no injuries related to this concern.
