Google’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) Gemini AI assistant will now be integrated into the Maps app, the tech giant said in its blog on Wednesday.
Through Gemini on Maps, users will now be able to, among other things, find places along their route, check for available EV chargers, get proactive traffic updates, identify landmarks, and explore a new area using Lens.
Gemini in navigation will be available in the coming weeks on Android and iOS in regions where the AI assistant is available, with Android Auto on the way, the company said.
Features like landmark-based navigation is rolling out now on Android and iOS in the U.S., while proactive traffic alerts are only available on Android. Lens built with Gemini will be gradually rolled out later this month on Android and iOS in the U.S.
