Comcast Corp. (CMCSA), which owns the Sky pay-TV business in Europe, is in discussions to purchase ITV Plc’s (OTCPK:ITVPF) media and entertainment business.
Comcast (CMCSA) is holding talks to buy the ITV division, which runs its commercial free-to-air TV channel operations in the UK as well as the ITVX streaming platform, according to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, which cited people familiar with the matter. If a deal comes to fruition, it will leave ITV with its studios unit, which produces show such as “Britain’s Got Talent” and “Love Island.”
Morgan Stanley and bankers from Robey Warshaw, are advising ITV (OTCPK:ITVPF) on a possible deal, according to the Bloomberg report. Comcast’s deliberations are ongoing and may not lead to a deal.
ITV declined to comment to Bloomberg. Comcast didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
