Boeing (BA) and Air Astana JSC on Thursday announced an agreement for the Kazakhstan flag carrier to purchase up to 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking the airline’s largest single aircraft order to date.
The companies said the acquisition will support Air Astana’s long-term fleet modernization strategy and expansion into new intercontinental markets.

The new 787-9s each can carry 303 passengers, and are planned to enhance the carrier’s capacity across existing routes and enable future expansion into North American destinations.
Air Astana’s current widebody fleet consists of three Boeing 767s.
The agreement was signed during the C5+1 Summit, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-Central Asia diplomatic platform.
